Dawn R. Forgeur, CCLS, is a litigation secretary with Stoel Rives, LLP. She was previously a litigation secretary and paralegal at Greenberg Traurig from 2009-2011. Her area of expertise is civil litigation. She passed the California Certified Legal Secretary examination in 2008. She was the Governor for SLSA for the 2010-2011 term and has served SLSA in other chairman positions, including the Legal Secretarial Training Co-Chair for a number of years, and the CCLS Co-Chair for the 2009-2010 term. She has also served as the Legal Secretarial Training/Seminar chair at the state level of Legal Secretaries, Inc. during the 2009-2010 term.

Lynne Gomes is a legislative/legal secretary with Greenberg Traurig, LLP with over 27 years’ experience in the legal field. Her areas of specialty are legislative, regulatory, and administrative law. She has been a member of SLSA for six years, and recently served as Co-Chair for the SLSA Day In Court Committee. Prior to joining SLSA, she served as a two-term President for Solano County LSA, also serving as its Secretary, Vice President, and Governor. Lynne also served as LSI’s Law Office Administration Section Leader from 1996-1997.

Deseree Gamayo has been a legal secretary/assistant for nine years. Over the last nine years, she has worked as both an office administrator and legal secretary at a transactional law firm and a litigation firm. She is the secretary to Jeff Stone, Eric Graves, Kimberlee Tsai, and David Zarka at the law firm of Stone & Graves. Among various areas of practice, Stone & Graves has an emphasis on civil litigation and personal injury. Deseree attended Humphrey’s College in Stockton, California, and focused on legal studies. She graduated in 2002 with a certificate in Legal Office Administration. This is her first time serving on the SLSA Executive Board.

Melanie Herman is the legal assistant to Robin K. Perkins of Perkins & Associates. Her areas of expertise ranges in a variety of civil litigation with a focus in employment law. Melanie received her BS from Sonoma State University in Criminology in 2006 and went on to receive her Paralegal Certificate from Cal. State East Bay in 2009. This is her first year on the SLSA Executive Board.

Astrid B. Watterson, CCLS is a paralegal with the offices of Somach Simmons & Dunn. Her areas of specialty are environmental law and litigation. She is a paralegal graduate from CSU Stanislaus and passed the California Certified Legal Secretary (CCLS) exam in 2003. This is her seventh year serving on the SLSA Executive Board as either Secretary (2004-2005), President (2005-2007; 2010-2011), or Governor (2007-2008), and having served SLSA for a number of years in other chairman capacities, including the Legal Secretarial Training Co-Chair teaching the Beginning Legal Secretary courses and the more advanced CCLS courses. Astrid has also been a speaker for other organizations such as the Bay Area Legal Secretaries Forum and has served at the state level as the Advertising chair (2007-2008) and California Certified Legal Secretary chair (2008-2010) for Legal Secretaries, Inc.
